Annual Scholarship Golf Tournament
The DFW Chapters of the National Black MBA Association and the Florida A & M University Alumni Association teamed up for education at the Scholarship Golf Tournament on the greens of the Riverside Golf Club in Grand Prairie, Texas on Saturday, October 3. The tournament offered its supporters a unique opportunity to compete with other professionals, expand their business network while raising funds for local scholarship awards.
Participants competed in a 4-person scramble and other contests such as the closest to the pin and the putting contests. The major contest of the day was the closest to the pin in which the winner was a awarded a weekend ride a Porsche, donated by the Park Place dealership. Scholarship chairperson, Brian Burton, was on hand to select the winner of the closest to the pin contest, Adrian Davis, who was about 12 inches from the pin. Kevin Guillory was the winner of the putting contest.
The event has become the annual primary fundraising event for the local chapter of the National Black MBA Association to build its scholarship revenue. This year, it was able to award $6,000 dollars in scholarships to local high school, college and doctoral students. NBMBAA-DFW is looking forward to increasing the attendance at this event to aid its efforts to be a greater supporter of the education of African Americans in the Dallas metro area.
