LOT Etiquette Dinner Tower Club Dallas

by Jacquinette D. Murphy

On January 14, the students of the Dallas Leaders of Tomorrow (LOT) mentoring program experienced the essence of a five-star evening in Downtown Dallas. Dana Davis, the chairperson of the NBMBAA Student Affairs Committee and Aneshia Campbell, VP of Finance for the local NBMBAA Chapter and LOT mentor, served as hostesses for the students and their families at the Dallas Tower Club restaurant on Elm Street in the downtown area. The evening coupled as a professional etiquette training session, an upscale dinner and dance experience with a press for excellence presentation by former NFL football player, Tim Brown.

Brown's presentation gave the students the tools needed to be “life game-changers” as he detailed the method by which the students could become the “M.V.P. of their life”. While the athletic term, MVP usually means most valuable player, Brown created a new acrostic with the words - motivation, vision and purpose - to light the path for the next generation. On Motivation, Brown inspired the students to not let others knock them off their course. He also stated that one must have Vision and maintain focus, set goals now and work to achieve them. Brown urged students to find their passion and life's purpose. When one establishes these components, it is possible to WIN at LIFE!

Prior to Brown's presentation, Davis instructed the students on proper etiquette for dining engagements with other professionals. Starting with a lesson in basic table mannerism, Davis groomed the high school teens for success. Following the lesson in professional etiquette, and the inspirational session by Brown, the parents and teens learned the art of Salsa dancing.

The LOT program empowers young leaders for success through a variety of activities. Students are exposed to successful individuals that share their experiences and teach values neccessary for professional achievement.
