The DFW Chapters of the National Black MBA Association(NBMBAA-DFW), The National Sales Network and the National Association of Black Accountants met in the Downtown Dallas area for an insightful journey into the 7- Eleven Corporation. Corporate executives, management staff and field consultants networked with members from the three non-profit organizations and later shared the current vision, history, milestone accomplishments of the corporation.
Once the attendees were formally acquainted with 7-Eleven corporation and service-driven business model, the presentation quickly shifted to retail store franchising and management. Operations manager, Larry Hughes and Ed Jones, a 7-Eleven field consultant, explained the process of franchise ownership and corporate store management. “We work with each franchisee store by store to make sure they are covered and building their infrastructure,” stated Jones. Hughes explained, “The store manager and corporate are concerned about the same thing- the bottom line. We do not make money until the stores make money.” 7-Eleven currently operates and franchises more than 6,840 stores in the United States of America and Canada.
According to the evening presenters, the 7-Eleven store operations, products and services are a combined result of a customer-driven focus and an assertive approach to retailing. The stores utilize cutting-edge merchandising programs to provide more accurate data to enhance product sales. “We understand what the customers want and how they want it,” commented Hughes.
